Pasig City gov’t cautions against making PVC copy of COVID-19 vaccination card

MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Pasig on Tuesday cautioned residents against converting their COVID-19 vaccination cards into polyvinyl chloride or PVC cards, citing the risk of compromising their personal information.
In an advisory, the Pasig City Public Information Office (PIO) instead recommended the lamination of vaccination cards after full inoculation of holders against the coronavirus in order to protect the cards from damage.
According to the local PIO, individuals who would avail of PVC copies may be unwittingly giving businesses offering such service access to their personal details and PasigPass quick response (QR) code.

“To protect your vaccination cards against tearing, being crumpled, or damaged due to exposure to water or other elements, you can have it laminated after being fully vaccinated,” the city government said.
It also emphasized that a PVC copy of the vaccination card is not a valid replacement for the city government-issued vaccination card.
The Pasig City PIO issued the warning after a person on Facebook offered to create a PVC copy of vaccination cards for P100.
“Be cautious of who you will give access to your PasigPass QR code, Pasig Pass account, or Pasig City Vaccination Card,” it said.
