160-bed isolation facility to rise in Navotas City
MANILA, Philippines — A 160-bed community isolation facility (CIF) will rise in Navotas City this week, Mayor Toby Tiangco said in an interview on INQside Look.
The new facility will complement the initial 300-bed CIF previously constructed by the city government to address a surge in coronavirus cases.
“‘Yung CIF naman natin, ‘yung community isolation facility, we have 300 beds, at magbubukas tayo this week ng another 160 beds na community isolation facility,” Tiangco said on Monday.

“‘Yun po ang kaya naming dagdagan, ‘yung community isolation facility, ngunit ‘yung ospital po hindi na. Kaya nagre-refer po tayo sa ibang mga ospital,” Tiangco admitted.

The city’s official added that the Navotas City Hospital is likely at full capacity already.
“Ang mandate is 50 percent, eh dahil 50 beds lang po tayo, I’m sure full po ‘yung capacity nung ating Navotas City Hospital,” Tiangco noted.

The mayor said that the city hospital is being expanded to 100 beds. But due to the government-mandated lockdown owing to the significant rise in COVID-19 infections, the construction slowed down.
