MANILA, Philippines — The city of Taguig on Monday announced that it has already inoculated 95.97 percent of its total eligible population with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“As of August 21, a total of 586,430 individuals have already received their first dose,” said the city’s local government in a statement.
Based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) projected population, Taguig has a total of 611,086 eligible population for COVID-19 vaccines.
The city government then said it will now aim to intensify its community-based vaccination rollout and vaccination for Taguig-based companies starting next week.
As of August 23, Taguig City has recorded a total of 33,870 cases of COVID-19, this includes 32,007 recoveries and 297 deaths.
The city currently has 1,566 active cases.
Meanwhile, health experts have logged a record-high number of fresh COVID-19 cases in the country with 18,332 cases, which brings the current active cases in the country to 130,352.
Total COVID-19 cases are currently at 1,857,646, with deaths at 31,961 and 1,695,335 recoveries, as of August 23.
Taguig City, along with the other local government units in Metro Manila, is currently under MECQ until the end of August.
