MANILA, Philippines — The number of operating COVID-19 vaccination sites in Navotas City dipped to four, Mayor Toby Tiangco disclosed in an interview with INQUIRER.net on Monday.
“Nung nagsimula ‘yung ECQ na, may seven vaccination sites tayo. Last week, natapos ‘yung linggo, five vaccination sites na lang tayo. Today, nasa four vaccination sites lang tayo,” Tiangco mentioned.
(When ECQ started, we had seven vaccination sites. Last week, the week ended with five vaccination sites. Today, we only have four vaccination sites.)
Tiangco admitted that operational COVID-19 vaccination centers decrease when there is a rise in infections because of the lack of health workers.
“So, ang mangyayari ‘yung health personnel kukunin lang namin from the vaccination site at magiging trabaho na nila is mag-alaga doon sa mga community isolation facility,” the mayor explained.
(What will happen is we will get the health personnel from the vaccination sites and they will tend to patients in the community isolation facilities.)
With this, Tiangco also acknowledged that they cannot hold vaccination nights to boost inoculation efforts.
Navotas’ chief executive further said that the local government will accept residents outside the city for COVID-19 immunization once all willing Navoteños receive their shot.
“Dapat unahin muna namin ‘yung aming mga kababayan up to the general population, hindi lang up to A5,” Tiangco shared.
(We should prioritize our constituents first up to the general population, not only up to the A5 priority group.)
