40% of PNP personnel already fully vaccinated vs COVID 19 — Eleazar

MANILA, Philippines — Forty percent of all personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the country have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, its chief said.

“Sa ngayon, sa buong Pilipinas, yung ating PNP, 40 percent na ang fully vaccinated…and 47 percent naman yung merong isang vaccine na,” PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar said during Monday’s Laging Handa briefing.

(As of now, in the Philippines, 40 percent of all PNP personnel have been fully vaccinated..and the other 47 percent have received their first dose.)

“So all in all, 87 percent na yung at least may [isang] bakuna na (have had at least their first vaccine dose),” he added.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), 52 percent of PNP personnel have completed their vaccination, according to Eleazar.

“Meron tayong 45 percent na may isang vaccine, so a total of 97 percent at least ay meron isang vaccine, yung three percent na yun, ang hangad natin by the end of this month e lahat ay meron nang vaccine,” he added.

(We also have 45 percent who have received their first dose, so a total of 97 percent have at least been inoculated with the first dose. We aim to vaccinate the remaining three percent within the end of this month.)

So far, there are 1,846 active COVID-19 cases within the PNP, Eleazar noted.

The death toll within the police force, meanwhile, stands at 100, he added.

“Mabilis naman maka-recover at yung ating mga nasawi, compared with other sector ay maituturing na kaunti lang,” he said.

(They easily recover and as for the death toll, compared with other sectors, it can be considered low.)

On Monday, the PNP said it logged 150 additional COVID-19 infections and one new death.

It also recorded 116 more recovered patients, bringing the total recovery count to 31,492.
