MANILA, Philippines — More than 4.2 million individuals are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Metro Manila, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chief Benhur Abalos said Monday.
According to Abalos, 4,262,546 individuals have completed their COVID-19 shots in Metro Manila, which comprises 43.5 percent of the population in the region.
“I think by the end of the month, easily we could reach 50 percent of the eligible population vaccinated in the NCR at the rate we’re going. We’re going to try to do that by the end of August,” Abalos said.
Meanwhile, 3,088,065 have received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose.
With NCR’s population at 14 million, Abalos said their target is to inoculate 70 percent of the population or around 9.8 million.
So far, Abalos said 11,613,157 doses of COVID-19 shots have been administered in the region.
