LUCENA CITY – Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez announced on social media on Sunday that he tested positive for COVID-19.

“Mingling with people everyday is part of our job. Which meant, despite being very careful, I couldn’t avoid being infected with COVID-19,” Harnadez said on his Facebook page Sunday night.

He added that the test result was confirmed Saturday, August 21.

In accordance with the protocol of health authorities, Hernandez said he is now under home quarantine and only has mild symptoms.

He assured the public that the provincial government will not stop its operation despite his condition.

Hernandez also called on the public to strictly observe all health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus and get themselves vaccinated.

Laguna has been placed under a less restrictive modified enhanced community quarantine for the rest of August.

As of August 20, Laguna has 6,002 active COVID-19 cases.
