Angeles City’s active COVID-19 cases breach 1,000 mark

ANGELES CITY – The city government here on Saturday said 40 more residents tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the city’s active cases to 1,113.

This city’s latest coronavirus bulletin also showed 17 new recoveries and a single death, a resident of Sapalibutad village.

The city government said 125 of the active cases are residents of Sto. Domingo village, which borders the City of San Fernando.

The village registered seven new cases on Saturday.

Other villages that have high active cases include Cutcut (84), Balibago (82), and Pandan (80).

This city has recorded 8,718 total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out last year. Of these, 7,240 have recovered while 365 have died.

As of Aug. 19, some 73,384 residents here have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The number represents 22.5 percent of this city’s 325,500 target population for inoculation against the coronavirus disease to achieve herd immunity.
