MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – The number of active COVID-19 cases in this province is nearing the 4,500 mark as the provincial government registered 4,448 active cases on Friday, August 20.
In its bulletin on Friday, Pampanga recorded 362 new cases, excluding the 52 new cases in this city on the said day, bringing the province’s active cases to 4,448.
The Aug. 20 bulletin shows Pampanga has had 29,490 total cases since the onset of the pandemic last year, of which 23,606 have recovered while 1,450 have died.
The data do not include COVID-19 cases in the highly urbanized Angeles City, which is independent from Pampanga.
As of Aug. 20, the provincial capital city of San Fernando has the most active cases at 1,158, followed by Mabalacat City with 549, and Guagua town with 417 active cases.
Pampanga has been enforcing strict border controls since the start of this month by requiring non-Pampanga residents to present current negative results of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or antigen test before they can enter the province for essential purposes.
