Man found dead in Benguet river

BAGUIO CITY—The body of a construction worker believed to have drowned at a river in Bokod town, Benguet province, was retrieved Thursday, Aug. 19, police said.

According to the rescue personnel, the remains of Rico Bayawoc, 30, a native of Tinglayan town in Kalinga province, had been recovered from the shallow part of the Bangao River in Barangay Ambuklao,

Bayawoc was working in a construction firm at Poblacion, Bokod, Benguet before his death, investigators said.

According to the police, strong river currents swept the victim away, but the investigation was ongoing.
