Tarlac’s active COVID-19 cases rise to 1,130

tarlac city checkpointMABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––The active COVID-19 cases in Tarlac rose to 1,130 on Thursday, Aug. 19, data from the provincial government show.

The active cases in the province almost doubled from 626 two weeks ago.

Citing the latest Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force report, the provincial government said 102 new cases and 34 recoveries were recorded on Thursday.

Among the new cases is a 1-year-old baby girl from Santa Ignacia, who has mild symptoms. She is in quarantine.

Tarlac City, the provincial capital, has the most active cases at 389, followed by Capas town with 123, and Victoria town with 85.

The province has recorded 10,296 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 8,737, or 84.85 percent, have recovered while 429, or 4 percent, have died.

As of Aug. 18, some 140,662 residents have received full vaccination against COVID-19, while 179,596 have their first dose of the vaccines.

Data from the Department of Health showed that Tarlac Provincial Hospital’s 17 intensive care unit beds (ICU), 107 isolation beds, and 101 ward beds are occupied. Only one of its eight mechanical ventilators was available as of Aug. 18.

The DOH data also showed that only four of the 51 ICU beds in all 24 hospitals in the province were unoccupied. Still available in the medical facilities were 102 isolation beds and 69 ward beds. INQ
