4-day-old boy, 3-year-old girl are latest COVID-19 patients in Olongapo

OLONGAPO CITY—A newborn baby from Barangay Gordon Heights is the latest to contract the virus in this city, according to the city’s COVID-19 task force on Thursday.

It was not disclosed how the baby boy, who is 4 days old, contracted the virus.

The other young patient is a 3-year-old girl from Barangay Barretto.

The city’s active cases have reached 406 out of the 3,416 total infections recorded since last year.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the city on Thursday (Aug. 19) breached the 400-mark as it logged 18 new infections.

Its recovery rate further dropped to 82 percent from 84 percent in recent days.

The city also recorded two fatalities related to the viral disease, raising to 184 its death toll.
