MANILA, Philippines — Quarantine passes will no longer be required in Metro Manila once it shifts to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting Saturday, August 21, Metro Manila Council chairperson and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Friday.
“Ang pagkakaiba po ngayon, hindi na natin i-implement ang quarantine pass. Ngayon, wala na pong quarantine pass sa MECQ pong yan,” Olivarez said in an interview on ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.
(The difference now is we will no longer implement quarantine passes. There will be no quarantine passes during MECQ.)
Meanwhile, Olivarez said the current curfew hours of 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. in Metro Manila will remain.
“Retain po muna natin yung 8 o’clock ng gabi hanggang 4 o’clock ng umaga. Same pa rin po yan, hindi pa po nagbabago yan,” he said.
(We will retain the 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew.)
The decision to impose a liquor ban is up to each local government unit, Olivarez added.
Metro Manila and Laguna’s quarantine status has been de-escalated from ECQ to MECQ from August 21 to August 31.
Bataan will also be under MECQ from August 23 to 31.
During this period, indoor and outdoor dine-in services, personal care services, and the conduct of physical religious gatherings will remain prohibited.
