3 million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines — Three million doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine procured by the national government were delivered to the Philippines on Thursday.

The vaccines aboard a Philippine Airlines flight arrived past 5:45 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The jabs were welcomed by the vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and National Task Force against COVID-19 adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa.

This is the largest batch of vaccines delivered by Sinovac in a single day.

With the arrival of the Sinovac jabs, the Philippines has already received 45.9 million COVID-19 vaccine doses since February.

Over 12.8 million persons have already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country with 29.1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered as of August 18.

The country is also expecting the arrival of over 700,000 doses of Sinopharm jabs donated by the Chinese government.
