Olongapo gets no letup from COVID as 59 new cases found

3 more die of COVID-19 in Olongapo City

OLONGAPO CITY—At least 59 new cases of COVID-19 were added to the growing number of infections in the city, local virus data showed on Wednesday (Aug. 18).

Among the latest to test positive for the viral disease included a 7-year-old girl from Barangay West Bajac-Bajac and an 80-year-old man from Barangay Barretto.

The new number of infections, which was among the highest single-day record here in recent months, raised to 392 the city’s active COVID-19 cases.

So far, the city has recorded 3,398 COVID-19 cases since last year but at least 2,824 of them have already recovered from the viral disease. It reflected an 83-percent recovery rate.

No new deaths related to the disease were recorded in the city on Wednesday. Its death toll still stood at 182.
