ANGELES CITY––Some 69,635 residents or 21.4 percent of the target population in this city’s COVID-19 inoculation drive had received full doses of the vaccines, local data showed on Wednesday, Aug. 18.
The city government said 123,121 residents also received the first dose of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer vaccines.
The fully vaccinated include 6,540 health workers, 24,590 elderly residents, 22,355 persons with comorbidities, 16,017 personnel in essential sectors, and 133 indigents.
Among them were recipients of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.
Irish Calaguas, the chief tactician and advisor of Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., told the Inquirer recently that the city government intends to vaccinate 325,500 residents, which is 70 percent of the city’s 465,000 population.
“We expect to vaccinate 70 percent of the city’s population by the end of November. But at the rate we are going at 6,000 individuals per day, maybe we can achieve our target earlier,” she said.
Aside from its two vaccination sites at the City Colleges of Angeles and at the Angeles City National High School, the city government also uses a mobile bus clinic in its “Ronda Bakuna” program.
The mobile clinic goes directly to small villages to vaccinate pre-registered residents. Six buses from the Philippine Rabbit Bus Lines are also being used to fetch villagers for vaccination.
