TACLOBAN CITY—Three people were killed after an SUV driven by a retired prosecutor rammed them in Tanauan town, Leyte province on Wednesday (Aug. 18).
Silverio Mercado, 74 and siblings Regine Garcia, 15, and her younger brother, Piolo, 14, were rushed to the hospital but didn’t survive the injuries.
Two others–Rogelio Macapanas, 55; and Antonio Indic, 63—suffered minor injuries.
The Tanauan police, in a report, said the casualties were in a waiting shed at a village in the town when a Toyoto Fortuner, driven by lawyer Racquel Kho, 70, went straight at them.
The front left tire of the Fortuner, which was headed to the town of Palo from Tolosa, exploded, prompting the SUV to serve to the opposite lane of the road, slamming into a parked pedicab before careening to the waiting shed where the victims were standing.
Kho and a companion suffered injuries, too, and were brought to a hospital.
