65 percent of COVID-19 cases in Nueva Ecija on home quarantine

CABANATUAN CITY—Over 800 or 65 percent of COVID-19 cases in Nueva Ecija are on home quarantine, prompting the provincial government to ask patients to go to quarantine and health facilities for treatment.

Gov. Aurelio Umali on Tuesday, Aug. 17, called on municipal and city health offices to convince patients to enter quarantine facilities, saying this would expedite recovery and contain the spread of the virus, especially among family members.

According to the local health authorities, many of the virus-infected adult patients, mostly parents, preferred to undergo home quarantine since no one would take care of their children.

Other cases of home quarantined patients involved entire households getting infected with COVID-19.

Local data show that active cases in the province had reached 1,215 as of Aug. 16. Only about 400 or 35 percent of these are confined in different hospitals or quarantine facilities. INQ
