400 more cases added to Ilocos Norte’s COVID-19 tally

LAOAG CITY—At least 400 new COVID-19 cases were logged in Ilocos Norte province on Tuesday (Aug. 17), raising the total number of active infections to 4,483, according to the data from the provincial government

The province has recorded 12,664 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year, with 8,025 recoveries and 156 deaths.

At least 19 towns and cities have been tagged as “red zones” for having at least 61 active COVID-9 cases. Within five days, the province added 1,555 new sick people to its COVID-19 tally.

FEATURED STORIES

Laoag City continues to have the highest number of active cases at 1,184, followed by Batac City (569), and the towns of Bacarra (345), Pasuquin (250), and Paoay (203).

According to the province’s contact tracing team, at least 17 of the 148 close contacts of the seven Delta variant cases in Ilocos Norte have tested positive for COVID-19.
