MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila mayors are voting whether to extend the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) or downgrade the quarantine classification in the metropolis and the results will be out on Wednesday, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Benhur Abalos said on Wednesday.
“Nagbobotohan pa lang kasi thru viber. Baka mamaya after lunch may result na,” Abalos told INQUIRER.net in a text message.
(The mayors are still voting through Viber. Results may be out after lunch.)
“We cannot reveal the votes of each mayor, only the result,” Abalos added.
Abalos is expected to announce updates on the mayor’s decision by Wednesday afternoon.
Metro Manila has been under the strictest quarantine classification since August 6 due to the threat of COVID-19 Delta variant. ECQ will lapse on Friday.
