MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—The active COVID-19 cases in the City of San Fernando surpassed 1,000 on Monday, Aug. 16, data from the city government showed.
In its latest bulletin, the San Fernando government said it now has 1.042 active cases, including the 70 new infections logged on the same day.
So far, San Fernando has registered 7,016 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 5,760 have recovered while 214 have died.
According to the city’s epidemiology and surveillance unit, at least 53,465 residents have been fully vaccinated against the viral disease as of Aug. 13. The number comprises 22 percent of the total 242,102 residents who are 18 years old and above.
It said 67,418 have been injected with the first doses of vaccines against COVID-19.
In Mabalacat City, 32 new COVID-19 cases, 16 recoveries, and two deaths were registered on Monday.
The fatalities include a resident of Dau village and another of Sta. Inez village.
The city’s active cases surpassed the 500 mark on Monday. Its active cases now stood at 511, which is its highest so far.
A total of 4,933 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Mabalacat since last year. Of these, 4,272 have recovered, while 150 have died.
