OLONGAPO CITY—Three of the 21 new cases of COVID-19 in this city are children aged 1, 2, and 13 years old, data from the local task force showed on Monday, Aug. 16.
The children are from West Tapinac, New Kalalake, and Barretto villages.
The new cases raised the number of sick persons to 349.
Twelve patients have been cleared of COVID-19, which brought the city’s recoveries to 2,973, an 84-percent recovery rate out of 3,322 total infections since last year.
A 73-year-old woman is the latest COVID-19 fatality, which pushed the city’s total death toll related to the viral disease to 180.
No home quarantine in Masinloc
In Masonloc town, the local government has prohibited home quarantine to COVID-19 patients to address the rising number of infections among family members.
In a recent executive order, the Masinloc government said residents who test positive for COVID-19 would be immediately brought to the town’s isolation facilities.
Travelers to the town would also be subject to rapid antigen tests and those who test positive would be taken to the isolation facilities.
Only essential travels are allowed in the town.
