ACTING Cebu City Mayor Joy Augustus Young yesterday said he believes that Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) is intact for now.
Young dismissed talk that at least four members are forming alliances with Mayor Michael Rama who is now on an official trip to Israel.
He was referring to Councilors Edu Rama, the mayor’s nephew; Rodrigo Abellanosa; Leah Japson; and Roberto Cabarrubias who may join Rama’s lineup in the 2013 elections.
“I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, unless otherwise they show something clear,” said Young.
Among the four councilors, only Rama was not invited to the dinner meeting that Osmeña hosted in his Guadalupe residence on Sunday night.
Young said it was also wise for Osmeña not to invite Councilor Rama to the dinner meeting so as not to put him in a compromising situation.
If the four leave BO-PK, Young said he was certain Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s 2nd district would not mind.
Osmeña earlier said he does not require loyalty from BO-PK allies, the reason why he did not register BO-PK as a political party.
He said any member could leave BO-PK if they no longer believe in the group and adhere to its principles.
While he said he is saddened by recent events, Councilor Rama said his focus now is public services especially implementing the city’s garbage segregation policy. /Chief Of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
