MANILA, Philippines — Over 3.2 million qualified Metro Manila residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) have already received cash assistance worth P1,000, from the government, Malacañang said Monday.
This is 29.31 percent of the 11.2 million target beneficiaries in the region, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said, citing data from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
“Nasa 29.31 percent na po ang na-distribute. Katumbas ito ng mahigit P3 bilyon o 3,299,290,000 mula sa total na higit P11 bilyon o P11,256,348,000. Nasa mahigit tatlong milyon o 3,299,290 ang actual recipients o nakatanggap ng payout,” Roque said in a press briefing.
(We have distributed aid to 29.31 percent of the total target. This amounts to over P3 billion or P3,299,290,000 from the more than P11 billion or P11,256,348,000. Over 3 million or 3,299,290 are the actual recipients of the payout.)
Local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila began distributing the aid worth P1,000 per person and a maximum of P4,000 per family last August 11.
The LGUs were given 15 days to finish the distribution of aid.
Metro Manila is under ECQ until this Friday, August 20, to prevent further spread of COVID-19 and the highly transmissible Delta variant.
