Travel restrictions in Oriental Mindoro extended until Aug. 31 to curb COVID-19 spread

CITY OF CALAPAN––Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito Dolor extended the travel restrictions in the province until Aug. 31.

Executive Order 33, which restricts travel to stop the spread of COVID-19 and entry of the Delta variant into the province, was first implemented from Aug. 1 to 15 as hospital beds were nearing capacity.

But on Aug. 12, two Delta variant cases, both without a history of travel outside the province, were reported in Calapan and Bongabong town.

EO 33 provides that entry to the province would require an original negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test issued within 24 hours before travel and an original vaccination card.

The Safe, Swift, and Smart Pass (S-pass) remains mandatory in the province.

Mass gatherings like birthdays, anniversaries, and reunions, will be limited to 10 people for as long as the EO is in force.

Gatherings related to COVID-19, official meetings among government officials, distribution of relief goods, social services, and religious worship will be allowed.

National government offices, local government, and private establishments are also requested to implement half-capacity operations in the work area.

The Barangay Monitoring Networks and Stations and the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team will be tapped and curfew implemented by the local governments.

As of Aug. 14, the province has reported 5,921 COVID-19 cases, of which 190 are active, 5,466 recovered, and 265 died since the pandemic started last year.
