COVID-19 hits 2 toddlers in Tarlac

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Two 2-year-old boys were among the 139 new COVID-19 cases in Tarlac, the provincial government disclosed on Saturday.

The Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force said one of the toddlers, a resident of Barangay Burot in Tarlac City, developed mild symptoms.

He was swabbed and found positive of SARS-Cov-2 on August 13.

The other toddler is from Barangay Maasin in Pura town who also developed mild symptoms and was found to have contracted the coronavirus disease on August 13.

The provincial government said eight other youngsters, ages seven to 15 from different localities, have been found to have contracted COVID-19.

All of them have mild symptoms and are currently under quarantine.

The province also registered eight recoveries on Saturday.

Since the onset of the pandemic last year, Tarlac registered 9,879 COVID-19 cases, of which 8,596 have recovered while 427 have died.

The number active cases stands at 856.

Tarlac City has the most active cases at 284, followed by Capas (132) and Paniqui (52).
