Cagayan Valley logs 16 COVID-19 Delta variant cases
TUGUEGARAO CITY – Sixteen cases of the more transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant have been detected and confirmed in Cagayan Valley following the release of genome samples from the UP-Philippine Genome Center and National Institute of Health, authorities said on Thursday.
Dr. Rio Magpantay, Cagayan Valley health director, said 13 of the 16 cases were traced to Isabela, two in Cagayan and one in Nueva Vizcaya.
The region has already logged 62,624 COVID-19 cases since last year, data showed.
As of Wednesday, the regional health office said most of the COVID-19 cases in the region were recorded in Tuguegarao City (767); Baggao, Cagayan (233); Cauayan City in Isabela (174); Tumauini, Isabela (93); Ilagan City (82) and Aparri, Cagayan (72).
