Fair weather seen by Friday despite habagat - Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The “habagat” or the southwest monsoon will continue to dump rain over parts of Northern Luzon on Thursday night but will improve by Friday in the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, said the state weather agency.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Ana Clauren said improving weather in Northern Luzon should be expected in the next 24 hours.

“At dahil po diyan, dito sa sa ka-Maynilaan at nalalabing bahagi pa ng Luzon ay asahan na natin ang mainit at maalinsangan na panahaon nguinit may tiyansa ng isolated rainshowers madalas po ‘yan sa hapon at gabi,” added Clauren.

(And because of that,  Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon can expect hot and sunny weather, but there is still a chance for isolated rain showers in the afternoon and evening.)

Both the entire Visayas and Mindanao will also experience the same fair weather with the same chance of isolated rain showers during the afternoon and night time which localized thunderstorms will cause.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure system being monitored over the past few days has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 8:00 a.m. Thursday.

Pagasa forecast temperature range in key cities/areas for the next 24 hours:

Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is also raised on the country’s seaboard, where only slight to moderate sea conditions are expected.

“Kaya malayang makakapalaot ang mga kababayan nating mangingisda pati na rin ang may mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat,” said Clauren.
