TAGBILARAN CITY — The city government of Tagbilaran on Thursday launched the province’s first mobile vaccination program (MVP) as part of its efforts to eradicate the COVID-19.
Tagbilaran Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap said the city had created a team that would go to villages to vaccinate residents belonging to the vulnerable sectors such as the elderly and those with comorbidities.
The first to receive her vaccine was 88-year-old Eulalia Cadeliña-Remolador, a resident of Barangay Poblacion 3.
“Thank you,” she said after receiving her first dose of Sinovac vaccine from the city’s health officer.
Remolador will turn 89 on Aug. 27.
Yolanda Robles-Requirme, 82, who was bedridden, also received her jab. She was all smiles after the vaccination.
Yap said the MVP hoped to inoculate “frail, sick, and highly vulnerable individuals.”
“Vaccination is very important. Hence, the Tagbilaran City government is bringing the vaccines [to] their doorsteps because they need to be protected. There is no reason for residents not to be vaccinated, especially in this time of pandemic and the threat of the Delta variant,” he said.
