More than 412K residents in Bicol region fully vaccinated

LIGAO CITY — Over 400,000 residents of Bicol have been fully vaccinated, the Department of Health in the region reported Thursday, Aug. 12.

Dr. Rita Mae Ang-Bon, spokesperson for the COVID-19 vaccination campaign of DOH Bicol, said in a text message that as of Aug. 11 noon, 412,289 persons had been fully vaccinated in the region.

She said 177,992 had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 234,297 got the one-dose shot of the Janssen vaccine.

As of Wednesday, those who received their first dose reached 288,436, according to Ang-Bon.

“So far the total doses administered is 700,725 in the entire Bicol region,” Ang-Bon said.

She said that despite the increasing number of persons vaccinated, it was still necessary to ramp up vaccination for senior citizens and those with illnesses.

The fully inoculated are 182,586 senior citizens; 103,545 persons with illnesses; 92,592 frontline workers in medical facilities; 13,772 members of the families of frontline healthcare workers; 11,414 essential workers; 4,250 overseas Filipino workers; 3,045 additional frontline health workers; 777 other priority groups; and 308 indigents.
