MANILA, Philippines —Three South Korean fugitives wanted for illegal drug charges and other offenses were arrested in Angeles City in Pampanga, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Thursday.
In a report to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU) said 47-year-old Han Jeongcheol, 48-year-old Yang Wonil, and 56-year-old Cho Sunggye were arrested in a subdivision in Angeles City, Pampanga on Tuesday, August 10.
The report stated that the FSU operatives conducted the operation to serve a deportation warrant against Han, who was ordered expelled by the BI for being a fugitive wanted for illegal drugs in his country.
The FSU officers, however, also encountered Yang and Cho who happened to be inside the house during the operation.
Upon verification with South Korean authorities, it turned out that Yang is also a fugitive who is wanted for fraud in his country.
Meanwhile, BI said Cho was included in their wanted list for overstaying in the country.
The three men are now detained at the BI facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City pending their deportation.
