MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has agreed to reactivate voter registration of persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens who failed to vote in the last two elections.

“@COMELEC En Banc approved the reactivation of PWDs and Senior citizens voters who failed to vote in 2 consecutive elections.  Reactivation through email and oath before the [election] officer thru video. Wait for procedure details,” Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Under the Voter’s Registration Act of 1996, the Election Registration Board will “deactivate the registration and remove the registration records” of any person “who did not vote in the two (2) successive preceding regular elections as shown by their voting records.”

Comelec earlier said that more than 60 million voters had already registered for the 2022 national elections.
