Active COVID-19 cases rise to 265 in Olongapo City
OLONGAPO CITY — At least 10 new cases of COVID-19 were added to the growing number of infections in the city on Tuesday (Aug. 10), local virus data showed.
According to the local task force, the new virus infected patients are aged 23-91 who reside in five of the 17 villages in the city.
The new cases pushed to 265 the city’s active cases amid the existing threat of the more transmissible Delta variant.
Last week, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said two cases of Delta variant were confirmed in the city.
So far, at least 3, 124 COVID-19 cases have been registered here since last year.
But 2,685 patients or 85 percent of the city’s total number of infected residents have been cleared of the viral disease.
