MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) and the “habagat” or the southwest monsoon will continue to bring rain in parts of Northern and Central Luzon in the next 24 hours, while the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will experience fair weather, said the state weather bureau on Wednesday.

The LPA was last spotted 395 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes as of 3 p.m. and together with the southwest monsoon, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Northern and Central parts of Luzon, specifically in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.

“Hindi pa rin ito nakikita natin na maging bagyo, at mas malaki ang tiyansa na malusaw ito sa mga susunod na oras o araw, pero asahan pa rin na mayroon itong epekto sa ilang bahagi ng Luzon at maghahatid ‘yan ng mga pag-ulan,” said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Joey Figuracion.

(It is still not expected to turn into a typhoon, and there is a greater chance that it will dissolve in the next few hours or days, but expect that it will continue to bring rain in some parts of Luzon.)

“Samantala sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon at sa buong Visayas at Mindanao, fair weather condition ang inaasahan. Kung merong pagulan ay daglian lamang dahil ‘yan sa pamumuo ng thunderstroms,” said Figuracion

(Meanwhile, fair weather conditions are expected in the rest of Luzon and throughout Visayas and Mindanao. Any rain caused by the formation of thunderstorms won’t last long.)

Pagasa forecast temperature range in key cities/areas for the next 24 hours:

  • Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 16 to 22 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City:  25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 22 to 29 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 28 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is also raised on the country’s seaboards where only slight to moderate sea conditions are expected.

“Kaya safe sa ating mga kababayan ang paglalayag, kasama na diyan ang mga gumagamit ng mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat,” said Figuracion.

(So it will be safe for everyone to sail, including those who use small sea crafts.)
