Over 60,000 Angeles City residents now fully vaccinated vs COVID-19

ANGELES CITY––Some 60,427 residents in this city have been fully inoculated against COVID-19.

The city government announced Wednesday, Aug. 11, that the fully vaccinated individuals include 6,186 health workers and medical front liners, 21,807 elderly, 19,056 persons with illnesses, and 13,378 essential workers.

Some 101,114 priority residents have received their first dose of the vaccine.

Data also showed that 76,022 doses of Sinovac, 35,175 of AstraZeneca, 19,104 of Pfizer, and 15,620 of Johnson & Johnson vaccines were used in the inoculation.

On Wednesday, the city government initially deployed its mobile clinic to Barangay Virgen Delos Remedios to vaccinate 1,063 villagers under its newly launched “Ronda Bakuna” program.

Meanwhile, despite the tighter curbs being enforced in the city, 20 more residents have contracted COVID-19, while four others have succumbed to the disease, the city government disclosed on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

It said the fatalities were residents of the villages of Anunas, Balibago, Capaya, and Margot.

The city also reported 55 new recoveries, bringing down the number of active cases to 648 on Tuesday from 683 on Monday.

A total of 7,877 COVID-19 cases were reported here since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 6,883 have recovered while 346 have died.

Barangay Santo Domingo has the most active cases at 75, followed by Barangay Balibago with 65 active cases, and Pampang village with 49.

The city government has been enforcing strict border controls, a curfew from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m., and a liquor ban to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its more contagious variants, such as the Delta strain.
