LPA’s trough to shower most parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of Luzon will experience rains due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Wednesday.

“Sa ngayon po’y mahina pa rin ang ‘habagat’ or southwest monsoon, at tanging dito pa rin po sa extreme northern Luzon nakakaapekto. Pero, may mga pag-ulan pa rin po tayo for most of Luzon. Ito’y dahil dun sa trough or extension ng isang low pressure area,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said in its 4 a.m. weather forecast.

(As of now, the “habagat” or southwest monsoon is still weak, and continues to affect extreme northern Luzon. But, there will be rains for most of Luzon. This is due to the trough or extension of a low pressure area.)

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Lubang Islands, and Kalayaan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought by the combined effects of “habagat” and LPA.

The LPA was spotted at 560 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan at 3 a.m.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the rest of the country.

No gale warning was raised as coastal waters are slight to moderate at 0.6 to 2.5 meters.

The temperature is forecast to be 25 to 31 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila, 15 to 22 degrees Celsius in Baguio, 24 to 32 degrees Celsius in Cebu, and 25 to 32 degrees Celsius in Davao.
