MANILA, Philippines — Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna is in good condition after testing positive for COVID-19, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said in a live online briefing on Tuesday.
“She’s at the Santa Ana Hospital. Her situation is okay,” Domagoso said in Filipino.
According to Domagoso, however, Lacuna’s absence makes the struggle against the pandemic harder, underscoring her contributions to the city’s fight against the spread of COVID-19.
“I’m really incapacitated right now, but we will not give up. We will not surrender,” he said.
Domagoso then called on his constituents, saying: “I need your help, my countrymen. Our systems, programs may not be perfect, but we will keep adjusting. If we trip, we will rise up quickly and walk on until we find the right solution. But we should not stagnate. That’s why I really need our beloved vice mayor,” he said.
Lacuna, who is also a physician, announced she tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, Aug. 8.
