BAGUIO CITY—The body of an 8-year-old boy, who drowned at an irrigation canal in Tabuk City, Kalinga province, was retrieved on Tuesday, Aug. 10, after 11 hours of searching, authorities said.
Investigators identified the boy as Sheyne Natarte, who went missing after swimming at the irrigation canal in Barangay Bulanao Centro with his 10-year-old brother and another unnamed companion on Monday afternoon.
The rescue team from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Kalinga and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said Natarte was carried away by a strong current despite holding onto a rope.
