Active COVID-19 cases in Isabela province rise to 913

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — The number of active COVID-19 cases in Isabela province climbed to 913 on Monday (Aug. 9), making it one of the high-risk areas for infections being monitored by health authorities.

Most of the active cases were recorded in Tumauini town, City of Cauayan, and City of Ilagan.

Isabela Gov. Rodolfo Albano III said residents were directed to wear double masks aside from face shields when in public places as precaution against the more transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19.

The provincial board has also passed a resolution urging local government units to require real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests from travelers coming from outside the province, including locally stranded individuals and returning overseas Filipinos.

Ilagan City Mayor Josemarie Diaz has required the presentation of travel coordination permits and latest negative RT-PCR test results from those entering the city.
