PH’s active COVID-19 cases rise to 78,480 as DOH logs 8,900 new infections
MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 caseload increased to 78,480 as the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday that another 8,900 people contracted the disease.
The DOH’s daily case bulletin also noted the recovery of 7,937 patients, boosting the total number of recoveries to 1,560,106, as well as the passing of six other cases, raising the tally of fatalities to 29,128.
To date, the Philippines has confirmed the coronavirus infection of 1,667,714.
According to the health agency, most or 96.1% of the 78,480 active cases either manifest mild or no symptoms.
The DOH then revealed more amendments to its COVID-19 database, saying it removed 102 duplicates from the nationwide sum case count. The duplicates it detected and deleted from its data include 98 recoveries.
It likewise said that four cases previously tagged as recovered patients were actually death cases after final validation.
The DOH said all laboratories were operational on August 7 and allof them were able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
