MANILA, Philippines — More than 11.3 million Filipinos have so far completed already the two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.
As of August 8, the DOH said a total of 11,391,969 individuals have received two doses of the vaccine including:
- 1,730,762 health workers
- 3,318,212 senior citizens
- 4,244,272 persons with comorbidities
- 1,734,089 economic frontliners
- 364,634 indigents
Meanwhile, over 13 million individuals have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including:
- 2,061,078 health workers
- 2,976,900 senior citizens
- 4,093,867 persons with comorbidities
- 3,333,680 economic frontliners
- 622,256 indigents
The doses make up 24,479,750 doses administered in the country, the DOH said.
For its part, Metro Manila has given at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine to 5.368 million individuals and two doses to 3.927 million residents, making a total of 9.295 million doses administered in the capital region, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chief of staff Michael Salalima.
Salalima said authorities will ramp up COVID-19 vaccination in the national capital region as it undergoes a two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until August 20.
The government is aiming to vaccinate at least 50% of the population in Metro Manila to achieve population protection.
