MANILA, Philippines — In just one day, Senator Panfilo Lacson said he blocked around 200 “troll” accounts for hurling insults at him after details of his meeting Vice President Leni Robredo came to light.

“Yung mga supporters nila, supporters namin nagkakapikunan na sa social media platforms at binabanatan ako. Kahapon nga, siguro mga 200 ata yung na-block ko na obvious namang trolls,” Lacson told Teleradyo on Monday.

(Their supporters and our supporters are starting to get on each other’s nerves on social media platforms and some have been criticizing me. In fact, yesterday, I blocked around 200 accounts which are obviously troll accounts.)

“Insulto na wala minsan halos kinalaman na dun sa topic, dun sa issue at hand,” he added.

(They’re throwing insults at me and sometimes it’s not even related to the topic, to the issue at hand.)

“Sisirain yung araw ko, babasahin ko pa, so ang ginagawa ko bina-block ko na lamang,” he further said.

(They’re ruining my day, why would I read those comments? That’s why I just blocked them.)

Last week, Lacson said he had offered a “sure unification formula” to Robredo for the 2022 elections but she declined it.

According to Lacson, he suggested all candidates file their candidacies first in October and then withdraw at a certain point in the election race once the strongest candidate emerges as determined by survey ratings.

But Robredo declined Lacson’s offer because of her “personal belief” that she should follow through with her presidential bid until the end, even if she ranks low in surveys.

Lacson said it was Robredo who initiated the meeting in an effort to unite behind one candidate or slate that will go up against the administration for the coming polls.
