MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Sunday clarified that the local government is not allowing walk-ins in its vaccination sites.

Belmonte denied reports that walk-in arrangements were allowed in some vaccination sites in the city which led to a huge influx of people.

“To be categorically clear, Quezon City does not allow walk-ins in its vaccine sites,” Belmonte said in a statement.

“Some shameless individuals still continue to instigate these situations by spreading fake news on social media,” she said. “These online saboteurs typically urge the public to line up outside vaccine sites for ‘walk-in accommodations’.

Vaccinees should be pre-registered to get a vaccination schedule, said Belmonte.

The mayor also warned that those who spread fake news could face charges for violation of the cybercrime law, reckless endangerment and unjust vexation.

“To this end, I would like to appeal to our national law enforcement agencies to investigate these posts, and file the necessary charges,” she appealed.

“To those spreading this fake news (for whatever malicious reason), makonsensya naman kayo (have some conscience),” she said. “You are literally endangering the lives of countless men, women, and children.”
