Distribution of cash aid starts next week
MANILA, Philippines — Local governments in Metro Manila may begin the distribution of cash aid to qualified beneficiaries in areas on lockdown by the middle of next week.
A joint memorandum circular has been issued providing the guidelines for the release of the “ayuda.”
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said on Saturday that, with the issuance of the guidelines, the 17 local governments in the National Capital Region may start the distribution of the cash aid, after making the necessary preparations.
Under the circular, P1,000 will be given to each low-income individual or a maximum of P4,000 for each household affected by the enhanced community quarantine. Local governments were given 15 days to finish the distribution.
