Storm Huaning spotted off Batanes
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Huaning” officially entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at dawn on Saturday, the weather service said.
At 10 a.m. on Saturday, Huaning was spotted 465 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes, accelerating east-northeast at 40 km per hour from 15 kph.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the tropical storm packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gusts at 110 kph.
But Pagasa said Huaning exited the PAR at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Pagasa is now monitoring a new low pressure area that may develop into a tropical depression once it enters PAR on Sunday.
The new tropical depression will be named Isang, Pagasa said.
