CITY OF CALAPAN – A total of 12,743 individuals here have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Friday, August 6, Mayor Arnan Panaligan said Saturday.
Panaligan also said some 17,518 people more have received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose.
Panaligan earlier appealed to the National Task Force Against COVID-19 to include other high-risk areas, including Calapan, as recipients of additional vaccine doses.
The task force and Department of Health sent an additional 6,000 doses.
“There is no vaccine hesitancy in Calapan City. Everybody wants to be inoculated, young and old…We hope they can increase it (the vaccines) more,” he said.
As of August 5, since the pandemic broke out, the city has logged 2,053 COVID-19 cases.
There are 104 active cases, 1,883 recoveries and 66 deaths.
