P95.4 million marijuana plants destroyed in Kalinga

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — Authorities uprooted and burned about P95.4 million worth of marijuana plants in seven plantations in Tinglayan town, Kalinga province in separate operations from Tuesday to Thursday.

At least 225,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P25 million and 420 kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth P70.4 million were destroyed during the operations in 22.5-hectare plantations.

Col. Davy Vicente Limmong, Kalinga police director, said no cultivators were arrested.

“Operations against marijuana will continue, especially during this rainy season when marijuana plants grow fast,” Limmong said in a statement.
