2 infants among 64 new COVID-19 cases in Tarlac

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Tarlac province recorded 64 new COVID-19 cases, among them two 6-month-old infants on Thursday.

In its latest bulletin, the Tarlac provincial government said one of the babies, whose family lives in Barangay Poblacion II in Pura town, did not have symptoms.

The baby boy was swabbed on Aug. 3 after getting exposed to a COVID-19-infected person. His positive result came out the next day and he was immediately quarantined.

The other is a female infant from Barangay Surgui 1st in Camiling town, who showed moderate symptoms and was brought to a hospital.

Tarlac also recorded 23 recoveries and a single death due to COVID-19 on Thursday.

The fatality was a 35-year-old female resident of Barangay Estrada in Capas town.

Data showed that the province registered 9,347 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 8,373 have recovered, 414 have died, and 560 continued to fight the virus.

Tarlac City has the most active cases at 202, followed by Capas with 79, and Paniqui with 45. INQ
