Cusi-led PDP-Laban group submits names of new officers to Comelec

MANILA, Philippines — The PDP-Laban group led by newly elected party president Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi submitted its new set of officers to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

In a letter to the poll body dated August 4 and signed by party chairman President Rodrigo Duterte and Cusi, PDP-Laban formally submitted its Sworn Information Update Statement (SIUS) to the Comelec,

Political parties were given until August 15 to submit their SIUS ahead of the 2022 elections.

In the same letter, the Cusi-led PDP-Laban faction listed the names and positions of the party’s newly elected national officers:

Alfonso Cusi – President
Karlo Nograles – Executive Vice President
Edwin Olivarez – Vice President for NCR
Raul Lambino – Vice President for Luzon
Ben Evardone – Vice President for Visayas
Charito Plaza – Vice President for Mindanao
Melvin Matibag – Secretary-General
Rianne Cuevas – National Treasurer
Christopher “Bong” Go – Auditor General
Astravel Pimentel-Naik – Membership Committee
Noel Felangco – Education Committee
Antonio Kho- Finance Committee
Richard Nethercott – Legal Affairs and Arbitration Committee
Jonathan Malaya – Public Information Committee
Reymar Mansilungan – Livelihood Committee
Maria Katrina Nicole Contacto- Youth Affairs Committee

The new set of officers were elected during the July 17 national assembly.

The said event, however, was dubbed as “unauthorized” by Senators Manny Pacquiao and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, who has been at odds with the Cusi-led group.

Asked about the SIUS submitted by Cusi’s faction, Pimentel said “politics should take a back seat.”

“We [should] focus on [the] COVID pandemic as lockdown has been declared in NCR (National Capital Region) and surges felt in other places,” he said.

“Concentrate first on solving the pandemic in our territory,” the senator added.
