TACLOBAN CITY — Seven of the eight new cases of COVID-19 in Eastern Samar had close contact with a patient who was earlier detected to have acquired the Delta variant.
According to Mayor Roland Boie Evardone of Arteche town, all COVID-19 cases in the municipality should now be treated as Delta variants.
The first confirmed patient of the Delta variant was a 45-year-old man who has no travel history and was not known to be in contact with any COVID-19 patient in the town.
He recovered from the COVID-19 variant last July 13.
The Department of Health is still conducting a probe on how the Delta variant entered the region.
